Targeted Consumer Advertising

Valassis Digital is an end-to-end service for targeting advertisers via their devices and driving them into retail stores.

In 2016 we were asked to revamp the campaign management platform to increase productivity amongst account managers so they could spend more time with their clients.

The Problem:

Account managers spent over 2 hours launching advertising campaigns for their customers. We wanted to reduce the time they spent building audiences and sourcing impressions. The result was an increase in their productivity by up to 50%.

Fortunately, 90% of our users were in-house. Through interviews and end-to-end user testing, we were able to launch a new platform that helped account managers do their jobs more efficiently.

The Solution:

Legacy applications are low-hanging fruit for seasoned designers, but there are plenty of opportunities to accidentally introduce new design debt.

We found that we needed to break out the user's process into three distinct phases: Proposal, Campaign Creation, and Line Item Creation. With this concept in place, we were able to take a complex process and break it into easier-to-manage tasks.
